Has it been a while since you had a night out with just your partner?
One of the most common complaints we hear from other parents, especially those who aren’t lucky enough to have nearby family support, is that they find it difficult to carve out “couple time” amidst the ongoing responsibilities that are part and parcel of having a family.
Often, even when we do have family members who can help out with babysitting, we use those free childminding opportunities to attend birthday parties and dinners with friends. The romantic couple’s night out gets relegated yet again.
Just one “night off” with our partner from family duties- where no one has to cook, clean, or force healthy food upon kids who’d sooner die than eat your hidden vege meatballs again- can have the most wonderful impact on your relationship.
So that you can enjoy a meal in peace with your partner, without having to wear the hefty expense of a pay-by-the-hour babysitter, South Village Kirrawee is hosting Kids’ Movie Nights throughout winter.
What does the Kids Movie Night include?
A different movie, for kids only, will screen every Friday night during winter. The line-up includes Disney classics like Mary Poppins, The Lion King and Aladdin, and newer favourites like Toy Story 4 and Spies in Disguise. You can find the full kids’ movies schedule here.
Kids can be signed in from 6pm and will receive a comfy bean bag and noise-cancelling headphones to wear as they watch a classic kids’ flick, which will start at 6:30pm in the area near Tamping Ground. We suggest you dress them warmly and bring a blanket they can curl up underneath while watching.
Don’t worry about preparing dinner for anyone! There are plenty of great kids meal options within the South Village dining precinct and kids are welcome to eat while they watch. Grill’d, Guzman Y Gomez, Pellegrini’s, Thairiffic and Baba Ghanouj all offer kids meals, so you’ll find something for even the fussiest little eater.
Your kids will be supervised by skilled and experienced minders who have completed their Working With Children Checks and have current First Aid certificates so that you’re free to enjoy the company of your partner, or even other friends you’ve been meaning to catch up with, in one of South Village’s many quality restaurants.
Where can the parents go?
Parents must remain on-site at South Village during the film, but you won’t be short on options! Indulge in the fine-dining fare at Baba Ghanouj, Pellegrini’s Italian or Umaya Restaurant, enjoy a delectable meal from Lee & Co Dumpling Bar, ThaiRiffic or Kickin Inn, or opt for something cheap and cheerful like Grill’d, Guzman Y Gomez or Joe Jnr and let the focus of the evening be on each other.
Relish the opportunity to get dressed up, reconnect with the person you fell in love with and cherish the uninterrupted conversation over a beautiful meal with the peace of mind that your kids are nearby and just fine.
