Waratah Street is a quiet, smaller-scale centre situated next to beautiful Gunnamatta Park. It caters for a small group of 40 children daily.
Families love its community feel and the many excursions the children experience. Our Educators take full advantage of the centre's prime location and natural surroundings, taking the children on many educational excursions and experiences.
Families value our warm and nurturing Educators and the genuine care they have for the children.
Our Educators possess a thorough knowledge of child development and an understanding of how children learn. One of our team is a member of Council's Children's Services Curriculum Group which examines best practice curriculum planning for children in our services. Also among our team are sustainability enthusiasts who bring environmental awareness and education to the children's program. The promotion of wellness and wellbeing is also a focus, with the children experiencing yoga and relaxation experiences.
We provide children with an academic and life skills education program. We promote the development of language and literacy, numeracy, social and emotional skills, physical development and cognitive growth. Many parents want to see their child write their name and hear them count and our curriculum provides children with the platform to develop these types of skills, along with many others.
Waratah Street offers an excellent Transition to School Program featuring strong connections with local primary schools, including Cronulla South Public School. We visit 4-5 times annually to spend time in the classrooms, engage with the teachers and visit the canteen. We also attend special events (e.g. Easter hat parade). We also enjoy regular excursions to Cronulla Public School and St Aloysius.
Our centre families enjoy regular insights into their children's learning via a safe and secure communication app called Educa. Educa allows families to view and share learning stories, photos and videos, and collaborate with Educators about their child’s development, from the comfort of their phone.
The children enjoy our spacious, multi-level playground featuring natural shade from treetop canopies. Our well-resourced outdoor space features a large shaded sandpit, climbing and balancing equipment and a great open space for games. We have a dedicated outdoor learning curriculum, where the same amount of intentional and spontaneous learning occurs as it does indoors. The outdoors is divided into learning environments (e.g. creative play, dramatic play, construction) where our Educators create games and facilitate play-based learning. We actively play and engage with the children during our many hours of outdoor fun and learning.
Our centre opens from 7am-6.15pm, 51 weeks of the year.
We provides an eco-friendly cloth nappy service to babies and toddlers, at no additional cost to parents.
All meals are supplied at our centre and are prepared fresh daily by our onsite cook.
